Tree Felling should only be attempted by experienced and qualified arborists as this can be a dangerous and complex process.

Crown reduction is a pruning operation which results in an overall reduction in the height and/or spread of the crown. Reducing trees effectively and aesthetically is a skillful process. When carried out poorly it can leave trees with irreversible damage not to mention looking unsightly.

Crown lifting is the removal of lower branches to achieve a required vertical clearance above ground level or other surfaces and structures.

Pollarding is a hard cut back to encourage formation of numerous branches arising from the same height on a main stem or principal branch.

This process is initially carried out on trees that have not yet reached maturity. The tree can then be regularly maintained by re-pollarding. This is not the same as ‘topping’ which is a poor practice and can be damaging to trees.

Sometimes tree’s need to removed for various reasons including being in poor health or causing a danger to the surroundings. Development and other environmental changes also require tree removal to take place.
